Smaller than life size head of a young rider. The figure turns slightly to the right. His eyes are almond-shaped and the lips form the typical smile of the time known as “Archaic smile”. Rich locks of hair frame the forehead and fall over the nape. The preserved vivid red colour that covers the hair may have been the undercoat over which the final hue was applied.
The relief band around the head signifies that the figure was a victor of an equestrian contest. In the drill opened at the top of the head may have fitted a meniskos.
